One Bread One Body 2016
Dear Friends in Christ,
As we celebrate 50 years of Ministry in Southcentral Alaska, in our Archdiocese, we connect our past to our future through the journey that begins with our children. Each of our families strives to raise their children with the values of the Church, keeping faith and Jesus at the center of their lives as good stewards of their local church.
Through the One Bread, One Body Annual Catholic Appeal, the Archdiocese provides for its families through the various programs off ered by the Ministry Department – including its newest outreach, Youth Ministry. Faith-fi lled families are the center of our parishes and the leaders of vibrant faith communities.
When ministries and people work together, the cycle of faith renews itself with each generation. Children become young adults who are able to see themselves as the next leaders of the Church, and some will even heed the call for a path toward men or women religious vocations. The journey for young men who choose priesthood is profound, particularly as they see themselves serving the parishes in which they grew up. Your contributions to the One Bread, One Body campaign will help pay for their formation this year.
Through its celebration of diversity, the Archdiocese acknowledges and welcomes the many cultures that have contributed to the growth of the Church in Alaska. We live in an exciting time for the Archdiocese as we move into the next 50 years of ministry toward our centennial in 2066. Join us on that path.
Please support the 2016 One Bread, One Body Annual Catholic Appeal to continue growing and building a vibrant and inclusive faith community. Be a part of the journey.
Sincerely yours in Christ and Mary,
†Roger L. Schwietz, OMI
