Cardinal Newman Chair of Catholic Theology

Alaska Pacific University
We are grateful that we have the endowed Cardinal Newman Chair of Catholic Theology at Alaska Pacific University (APU) in Anchorage. Dr. Regina Boisclair, Professor of Religion, holds this position. She is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association, College Theology Society, American Academy of Religion, Society of Biblical Literature, and the Catholic Theological Association of America.

Locally, she is a member of the Interfaith Council of Anchorage and the Ecumenical Commission of the Archdiocese of Anchorage. Dr. Boisclair assists the Archdiocese in providing needed courses and workshops in Scripture, Catholic Theology, Catholic Moral Teaching, and much more.

Interested adults are welcome to many courses at APU as “Newman Observers” for a modest fee. It is possible to earn CEUs or Professional Development Credits with these courses. Dr. Boisclair directs students seeking an M.A. in religious studies through APU’s Masters of Arts program. In June every two years, the Newman Chair sponsors the Midsummer’s Light Bible Institute that features scripture scholars with international reputations.
