Mark your calendar for Engaged Encounter Weekend at Holy Spirit Center, May 26-28, 2017.

About the Weekend: The weekend typically begins on Friday night with check-in between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Plan to have eaten before you arrive as only snacks are available Friday evening. The evening activities conclude at about 10:00 pm and begin again Saturday at about 7:00 am. The day concludes at about 10:00 pm, but there is typically an approximate 2 hr. break in the afternoon.

Sunday’s program begins about 8:00 am and the retreat concludes about 3:00 pm. Three meals are served on Saturday; two in Sunday.  Unfortunately, if you have dietary restrictions we have limited resources and may not be able to accommodate them so you may wish to bring food that meets your dietary restriction.

You are asked to stay on campus at the retreat center throughout the weekend in order to fully benefit from the retreat experience.

At the conclusion of the retreat you will be given the opportunity to present a betrothal to your partner. We will attend mass on-site at the Resurrection Chapel at 9:00 am on Sunday.

About our attendees: Though presented at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center, the retreat is not limited to Catholics. Most weekends will include 30-40% of other Christian faiths as well as a small percentage of other faiths. All are welcome. The theme of the weekend is the enhancement of good marriages, regardless of the faith of the couple.

About the location: You can obtain more info about the Holy Spirit Center, including directions, at: http://www.holyspiritcenterak.org

What to bring and wear: We ask that you bring a snack or snacks and a 6/8 pack of your favorite non-alcoholic beverage to share. We maintain a snack table throughout the weekend and a refrigerator to keep beverages and perishables cold. Dress is casual and comfortable. Towels, pillows and blankets are provided by the retreat house.

Why attend? Statistics maintained by the ministry indicate that 90% of couples who attend these weekends remain married after ten years of marriage. Give you partner the gift of your time and your company over the weekend, perhaps the most precious gift you can offer. Engaged Encounter Application 2017 (.pdf)
