Evangelization and Faith Formation

Evangelization and Faith Formation

What is Evangelization?

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Mathew, chapter 28, verses 19 & 20

Evangelizing means bringing the Good News of Jesus into every human situation and seeking to convert individuals and society by the divine power of the Gospel itself.

Why Catholic?, a ministry of Renew International, is an adult faith formation process based on Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The program is organized around the four main pillars: Prayer, Life, Belief and the Sacraments. The program uses a series of four books that are broken down into 8 sessions, which (as with RENEW programs) then break off into small group discussions. The main goal is to establish Small Christian Communities within the parish. Please contact your local parish for dates and times.

Scripture and Leadership Training (SALT):
Developed by Seattle University, the program provides a holistic approach to studying both Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. It integrates scripture, spirituality and leadership training. Class sessions are offered in multiple parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Anchorage on a rotating yearly basis. Please contact Bonnie Bezousek, 907-297-7732 or email: bbezousek@caa-ak.org.
