Application Process

Interested candidates may request an application for the Saint John Vianney House of Discernment from the Archdiocesan Vocations Office or download an application here. The application is quite extensive, and includes a detailed autobiography. New men will normally enter the house annually on August 1st, with a formal Mass and welcoming on August 4th, the Feast Day of Saint John Vianney. Residents may enter the house at other times by special permission of the Archbishop.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, with a deadline of June 1st for entry during the following August. Personal interviews are conducted in June of each year with results communicated to prospective candidates by the end of June. The interview team asks the candidate to honestly present himself and thereafter judges the candidate's maturity, time and ability to enter into a focused time of discernment. Psychological screening normally takes place prior to entering seminary; however, the interview board may request a psychological screening of any applicant prior to acceptance into the house.
