Justice, Peace and Life Videos Available in the Office of Evangelization

  • Communities of Salt and Light  (17 minutes) This video outlines the challenges of the U.S. bishops’ statement on the social mission of the parish and ways parishes can respond.  It is a valuable resource for parish social ministry.
  • Parishes in Action (23 minutes)  This video is designed for parishes seeking ways to develop plans for social action.  Four successful models of parishioners addressing specific social issues are features. 
  • Helping People Help Themselves (15 minutes)  This presentation travels across the country and chronicles the spirit of Catholic social teaching, lived out through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  This video is a valuable introduction to the work of the Campaign and can be shown in any setting where people are seeking to put their faith into action. 
  • The Seamless Garment (30 minutes) In this video people are interviewed about their personal commitments to the consistent ethic of life, or "seamless garment," as taught by the Catholic church. They share key experiences in their lives that shaped their opposition to abortion, capital punishment, war, and other forms of violence. This video is the best available in showing how these basic life issues are interconnected.
  • Bring Down the Walls (12 minutes) Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Rerum Novarum, this creative video introduces the wisdom, power and common heritage of the social teachings of the Church.
  • Faithful Citizenship (10 minutes)  This video is an invitation to all Catholics to be informed, active, and responsible participants in the political process.  Catholics are asked to bring their moral values and principles to public debate.
  • Sweating for a T-Shirt (24 minutes) UCLA freshman Arlen Benjamin travels with her mother through Honduras' sweatshop industry. Join Arlen as she meets with workers, factory owners, union organizers, and human rights activists.
