National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry - NCCYM

"And the Desert Shall Bloom / Y el Desierto Florecerá"
November 30-December 3, 2006 in Columbus, Ohio

I’ve begun planning for the National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry, which takes place on November 30 – December 3.

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow in our knowledge of how to best serve the youth in our parishes. The most recent sociological studies and practices in ministry will be shared by the keynote and workshop presenters.

Please visit http://www.nfcym.org/nccym/index.htm for more specific information regarding the conference.

I’ve reserved 6 rooms at the Riviera Hotel for our Archdiocesan participants for the nights of Tuesday, November 28 – Saturday, December 2 (5 nights total - departing on Sunday, December 3). Hopefully, that won’t be enough. But the rooms are available on a first come basis. Each room is a non-smoking room with two queen beds.

If you would like a room for yourself or parish, please contact me at 907-745-3229 ext. 12.

The deposit for each room has already been paid for by the Archdiocese, so in order to secure your room, $107.91 will also be due, payable to the Archdiocese of Anchorage, upon request of the room. The remaining cost of the room will be $107.91 + $3/night energy surcharge, which each person or parish will be responsible to pay to the hotel upon checkout for the rooms they have requested.

Each person is also responsible to go to the website and register him or herself for the conference. Each person is also responsible to book their own airfare. Before you do any of this, take a look at the schedule of activities. There are many special gatherings on Wednesday that you may want to take advantage of.

This opportunity for learning and networking will compliment the Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies program. Let’s make the new academic year the Year of the Youth. Wouldn’t it be great to come together around our ministry to the young church and put forth an asserted effort to grow in our commitment to their spiritual and mental well being?

I hope many will participate in this trip.

Sincerely,

Matthew Beck
