September 6 │ Church History - A review of church history will begin at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish the lst Monday of September, 6:30-8pm for 8 sessions. Each meeting will consist of two videos with a short discussion after each, facilitated by Sr. Lorene Griffin and Vince Fennimore. Covenant House is gathering items for their “Job Search” closet. They are specifically in need of black shoes and black belts in all sizes for both young men and young women. The girls specially need shoes with low to no heels (flats). They also are in need of any clothing for job searching purposes. The PVC will create an organizational structure to strengthen Parish commitment to refugee resettlement and focus on securing winter clothing, independent transportation training and community social support. September 10-12 │12 Step Retreat: Living in the Solution through Forgiveness and Reconciliation. The retreat will be based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. This retreat is open to anyone interested in recovery from alcoholism and other addictions through the spirituality of the 12 Steps. The retreat will consist of conferences, prayer & reflection, group sharing, and time for individual conferences with Fr. Dick Dunphy, SJ. Fr. Dick has been in recovery for over thirty-five years. He currently is on the staff of Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Colorado, where he gives spiritual direction and guides retreats, including 12 Step retreats. He holds a doctorate in theology and has specialized in spirituality. He has served as a faculty member, administrator and chaplain at Jesuit universities in St. Louis, Rome, and Denver. October 14-17 │Father Bernie Owens, SJ is directing a contemplative weekend Retreat with Conferences/Talks, Meditations in Common and Eucharist. The retreat begins on Thursday, 7:00pm and concludes Sunday, 12 Noon. We encourage those interested in making the retreat to begin on Thursday. Fr. Bernie Owens, SJ, was ordained in 1972, earned his doctorate in Christian Spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA in 1983, taught at the University of Detroit Mercy from 1981 to 1994. Coming to Manresa in 1994, he has been Director of the two-year Internship in Ignatian Spirituality, has led an annual seminar in Christian Spiritual Classics, and guided retreatants through the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola.

September 24-26 │ Camp Erin Anchorage 2010 is now accepting Camper Applications for this year’s camp to be held Friday, September 24 – Sunday, September 26, 2010. The camp will be held at the Cub Scout Camp location in Chugiak (Camp Carlquist). Camp Erin Anchorage is our annual weekend grief camp for children ages 6 – 17 years who have lost someone close to them to death. Hospice of Anchorage’s Forget Me Not Grief Program has partnered with The Moyer Foundation to offer Camp Erin to our community for a ten-year commitment. The Moyer Foundation partners with healthcare and bereavement organizations in local communities to help fund, manage, and grow Camp Erin nationwide.
