November 5 │2009 Candlelight Vigil for Homeless Youth - Thursday evening November 5, 2009 across from Town Square on F Street in front of the Covenant House Alaska Crisis Center. Activities begin at 6:00pm. Parishes please bring your banners to show support for the homeless youth in our communities! The Covenant House will be collecting much needed items like coats, hats, gloves, socks and other clothing that evening. There will be barrels around the parameters of the Vigil area for that purpose or items can be dropped off at any of our facilities at anytime. Following the Vigil activities there will be an Open House held in the Crisis Center where attendees can warm-up if needed. There will be two presenters for each, one will be scholarly, the other personal/spiritual. Inter-faith Dialogue is a time of sharing one’s understandings; it is not a time for disputes and apologetics. One goes to learn from the other in hopes of being then able to accurately articulate the others understandings so that the other recognizes their belief in what the dialogue partner states. Twenty Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time [October 11, 2009]
October │ The weather may be cooling down, but things are heating up for young adults! This October, Holy Family Cathedral is planning weekly activities, socials, and discussion groups for men and women in their 20s and 30s who are single or married. Each Monday in October you are invited to join us at the cathedral at 7pm for Br. Dominic's talks based on the Gospel of Life. On Fridays we gather at 7pm for an hour of prayer and Eucharistic adoration at the cathedral, and then a time of fellowship at 8:00 p.m. What better way to end the week than spending an hour with Jesus and socializing with other Catholic adults?
