September 10 │ The Listening Post - Do you have a compassionate heart for listening to another's sacred story? The Listening Post is a place of prayer, meditation and one-on-one listening located on the 2nd floor of the Downtown Transit Center. We do not advise, problem-solve or try to fix another. We simply offer our listening presence and a quiet space to listen to the soul and the Spirit. Volunteers must be 18 yrs. or older, willing to be trained, commit to at least one shift/mo. Starting in September, Holy Family Cathedral is planning weekly Wednesday events, activities, socials, studies, and discussion groups for young adults, men and women in their 20s and 30s, single or married. Every Friday, young adults are invited to gather at 7:00pm for an hour of prayer and Eucharistic adoration. After adoration and benediction, we meet for an informal get-together. Boisclair, Ph.D. This very popular course explores women’s stories, female images, and teachings pertaining to women in the Christian Bible and consider what they suggest pertaining to women in the contemporary church. Boisclair, Ph.D. Catholic Theology III will explore the fundamental Catholic understanding of moral theology including Catholic Social Teaching, the moral implications of ecology and overview of the sacraments of healing. September 29 │Foundations of Judaism - Rabbi Michael Oblath, Ph.D. This course will introduce the foundational beliefs, practices, history, and cultures of Judaism while considering resources for further self-directed study and reflection. September 11-13│12 Step Retreat: Attitude of Gratitude The retreat will be based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. This retreat is open to anyone interested in recovery from alcoholism and other addictions through the spirituality of the 12 Steps. The retreat will consist of conferences, prayer & reflection, group sharing, and time for individual conferences with Fr. Dick Dunphy, SJ. Fr. Dick has been in recovery for over thirty-five years. He currently is on the staff of Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Colorado, where he gives spiritual direction and guides retreats, including 12 Step retreats. He holds a doctorate in theology and has specialized in spirituality. He has served as a faculty member, administrator and chaplain at Jesuit universities in St. Louis, Rome, and Denver. He also has counseled people living with and affected by HIV, worked with the homeless and chemically dependent, and served as the founding director of Regis University's Institute on the Common Good. September 25 – 27│ Koinonia Retreat "Koinonia" is the greek word for Community. This weekend retreat program is for adults, concentrating on the Pascal Mystery: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. There will be a series of talks, discussions, and activities which foster renewal and give participants a real knowledge and experience of what it means to be Church. Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time [August 16, 2009]

August 20│The Mass – Structure & History. This class will look at the parts of the Mass including the responses and posture of the people. The current structure of the Mass will be compared with that of the early church and with the “Latin Mass”. Time permitting, the structure of the Liturgical Year will also be covered. Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time [August 9, 2009]

August 13 │Marriage Law. The largest section of the Code deals with the laws concerning The Sacrament of Matrimony. This class will deal with what makes a valid marriage and the Church’s procedures in marriage nullity cases. All classes are on Thursday evenings in August from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. Dn.
