Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time [February 8, 2009]

It fosters a detailed reading of his letters and explores how Paul’s experience of the Risen Christ shaped his understanding of Jesus’ universal significance. February 22 │A YOUTH MASS and HUNGER BANQUET - We invite all youth of every parish in the Archdiocese to participate. February 26 - March 1 │Learning How to Be: Teachings on the Eight Beatitudes with Meditation in the Christian Tradition. Thursday at 6 pm to Sunday at 1 pm. This retreat will be led by Bernie Owens, S.J. Fr. Bernie has a doctorate in Christian Spirituality and taught for 13 years at the University of Detroit. Since 1994, he has been the director of the Internship in Ignatian Spirituality out of Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield, MI. During this extended weekend beginning Thursday evening, Fr. Bernie will lead participants through the 8 beatitudes as guides for how we are to be as Christians. Interspersed will be optional group meditation sessions, daily Mass and time for rest and exercise. March 7th │50th Alaska State Anniversary Quilt - Volunteers from Catholic Social Services' Pregnancy Support & Adoption Services may be visiting your parish soon to sell raffle tickets for a beautiful, handmade, queen size quilt. This quilt has a wonderful Alaskan theme commemorating our 50th Anniversary as a state. Tickets are only $5 each or 5 for $20. All proceeds benefit Pregnancy Support & Adoption Services which includes the Baby Boutique. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Quilt, Fiber & Wearable Arts event held Saturday, March 7 from noon - 3:00 pm at the ConocoPhillips Atrium.
