Our Catholic site provided groceries for a traditional Thanksgiving meal to 533 families. The total Anchorage project served 5,787 families an increase of 37% from 2007.

Fourth Sunday of Avent [December 21 - December 27]
Congratulations to the Lumen Christi Junior High School boys basketball team which took first place in the ACSAA state tournament Dec. 4-6 in Soldotna! The six-man team was undefeated in the tournament, in a field of 11 boys' teams from Christian schools around the state. Congratulations also to the St. Mary's team of Kodiak which placed fourth in the boys' division! St. Mary's also fielded a girls' team, one of seven in the tournament.

For some, the memories are of their loved ones who have died, and the pain of their loss is real. For others the memories are of happier times than we know now, as the anguish of broken relationships or relocation or poor health cloud this season. We need to remember, and we need a safe space and place to acknowledge our sadness and concern; and we need to know we are not alone. For these and other reasons we need a special time to be together to receive the words of hope that speak to us in the midst of sorrow. Be with us to hear and share prayers, scripture readings and hymns that help us to know that God's presence is for those who mourn, and God's word comes to give light to our darkness. Our heartfelt gratitude to those who supported the Thanksgiving Blessing Project hosted by St. Patrick’s Parish and Catholic Social Services. Our Catholic site provided groceries for a traditional Thanksgiving meal to 533 families. The total Anchorage project served 5,787 families an increase of 37% from 2007.
