Marie's Beauty Supply and Salon will be hosting a Cut-a-Thon for Catholic Social Services’ Clare House, an emergency homeless shelter for women and children, on Saturday, July 28, 2007. Donate $20 to Clare House and get a free haircut. Marie’s is located at 570 East Benson across from Sears Mall near Great Harvest Bread Company. Marie's is also hosting a raffle with 6 fabulous prizes. You could win a Diamond ring, 3-day motor home rental, Apple iPOD, cordless phone, $50 gift certificate to Best Buy or a picnic basket. A special thank you to St. Andrews Parish and Evergreen Nursery & Garden Center for their outstanding support of Catholic Social Services’ Refugee Assistance and Immigration Services program. St. Andrews collected enough food, clothing, household products, and furniture to cover newly arriving Uzbekistan families’ basic needs as well as providing supplies for future families. The congregation collected money to help CSS develop a rotating security deposit and first month rent fund. Evergreen provided expertise, plants, backhoe services and labor to help refugees plant a garden in Mt. View in order to grow vegetables to sell at a Farmer’s Market booth.

The H.U.G.S.S. (Helping Us Give School Supplies) & Coats for Kids project will be purchasing supplies in July to provide school supplies to 5,700 kids from low-income households.
