CERTIFICATE IN YOUTH MINISTRY The Archdiocese in cooperation with The Center for Ministry Development offers a Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies this Fall in Anchorage. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone currently working with our young church as catechists, mentors, youth leaders, etc. More info on the Archdiocesan website: www.archdioceseofanchorage.org


CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES

H.U.G.S.S. [Helping Us Give School Supplies] & Coats for Kids project needs volunteers. Distribution of school supplies and coats to children from low-income households will be held August 10 & 11, 2006. H.U.G.S.S., a collaborative community partnership, helps to prepare Anchorage kids for a successful school year by not only providing basic supplies, but also fosters a life-long excitement for learning. On the occasion of the twentieth Word Youth Day in Germany, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, invited youth of the world to go forward with Christ to live as true worshippers of God. PENTECOST - For the week of June 4 - June 11, 2006

JUNE 3 & 4 - UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME FOLK CHOIR - The University of Notre Dame Folk Choir is coming to Anchorage! This is a highly acclaimed, mixed choir whose performance of liturgical music should not be missed Saturday, June 3rd, at Saint Andrew in Eagle River at 7pm and on Sunday, June 4th at 8:15pm at Saint Patrick.

JUNE 4 - CATHOLIC SCOUT RELIGIOUS EMBLEMS & AWARDS MASS: On Sunday, June 4th, at 2pm Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2901 E. Huffman Road, Anchorage will host Archbishop Roger Schwietz who will preside at a special Mass for Catholic Scouts: Girls and Boys, who have earned Catholic Religious Emblems and Awards in the past year. He will present emblems to those who have earned them and not yet received the award or emblem. For those who had a parish presentation ceremony, Archbishop will re-present or acknowledge them. For those who earned an award or emblem between May 20, 2005 and May 1, 2006, and had a parish presentation ceremony, and would like to have Archbishop acknowledge or re-present your award in this Archdiocesan Ceremony, contact Mr. Paul Cordasci, ACCOS Religious Emblems Coordinator (694-7632), or e-mail: aksculpt@hotmail.com on or before Monday, May 1, 2006. JUNE 4 – JESUS DECODED - A new documentary from the USCCB’s Catholic Communication Campaign that brings authentic Catholic teaching about Jesus Christ back into focus. It addresses questions that some readers of Dan Brown’s best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code are asking. With the debut of the film version of the novel, many are certain to be exposed to the sensational claims which call into question fundamental orthodox beliefs about Jesus and the Church. To help separate the Catholic truth from fiction, the Catholic Communication Campaign has produced Jesus Decoded, a new hour-long documentary that presents clear and accurate information about the person of Jesus, his disciples, and the formation of the books included in the official canon of the Bible. The documentary will air on Channel 2 KTUU Sunday, June 4th @ 5am.
