Prayer for Indonesia

Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Indonesia

This past month, an earthquake once again ravaged Indonesia, leaving 6,000 dead, and many more injured and homeless.

Use this prayer for solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Indonesia.

We grasp our heads in anguish:
Another disaster has ravaged the lives of your people, O God.

We pray for the dead, and for the living,
with tens of thousands injured and hundreds of thousands homeless.

We pray for those who now huddle under makeshift shelters,
waiting in fear as the nearby volcanic Mt. Merapi threatens eruption.

We pray for solidarity with our family across the globe.
Draw us near to one another as a human family.

Help us to deeply sense their plight, and to respond,
reminding our leaders that our brothers and sisters across the globe
are equal to us in human dignity.

Make us aware of our responsibility for ensuring that enough aid is promised and delivered, both now and in months to come. Amen.
