40th Anniversary Prayers 
Archbishop Schwietz has directed that a MASS OF THANKSGIVING or Liturgy of Thanksgiving be offered in every parish and mission of the Archdiocese on February 11 & 12, The following prayer should be said as the concluding prayer for the General Intercessions (Prayer of the Faithful) at all Liturgies celebrated within the Archdiocese beginning on the weekend closest to February 11 & 12 and throughout the month of February.

Prayer of A Celebrating Church (Concluding Prayer to Prayers of the Faithful)
God, our loving Father,
you sent your Son Jesus Christ to bring us true freedom.
You created this Great Land,
to which so many have come in search of their own freedom:
we thank you.
We thank you for the abundant
blessings you continue to give your people.
We give thanks for the holy men and women who have gone before us,
upon whose shoulders we proudly stand in faith.
Open our eyes, that we might see the needs of others.
Open our ears, that we might hear your call of discipleship.
Open our hearts, that we might love without prejudice.
Open our mouths, that we might share the Good News.
Continue to guide the
Church of Anchorage with your grace,
enlighten us with your Word, strengthen us with your Holy Spirit
in hospitality and stewardship as
Disciples in Mission. Amen.

Lord, we offer you this sacrifice of praise for all you have given us even though we are unworthy of your love. May we always use your many gifts to bring glory to your name. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer After Communion
Let us pray,
God our Father, in this spiritual food you have given back to su the sacrifice we offered you in thanksgiving, the saving sacrament of Christ your Son. By these gifts of strength and joy sustain us in your service and bring us to your gift of eternal life. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
